Operation Crossroads was an atmospheric nuclear weapon test series conducted by the United States in the summer of 1946. This video is divided into two parts. Part one is a narrated documentary covering highlights of the tests.
Part two offer a behind the scenes look at sailors and officers making preparations for the tests. Includes excellent scenes shot aboard the target ships, USS New York, USS Pennsylvania and the German cruiser Prinz Eugene. Also includes excellent scenes shot aboard USS Mt. McKinley, USS Kenneth Whiting and USS Fall River. Also includes scenes shot aboard LST-861.
