D_N Mugen: Popeye Survivor

This is Popeye's latest update. SO....I just had to take him for a test drive XP

Popeye is a pretty well balanced character. Though he is not as balanced built, his AI and moves help even it out. He possess moves that carry a lot of power and require no energy, and his supers are massive. With a high strength AI, Popeye would be impossible. But as of now, there is only a Medium and Light strength AI. As for now Popeye has a lot of strengths and only a few flaws.

Popeye comes with a new combo system. Which activates at the start of the match. Although I like the ability to make it easier to pull off combos, the fact it makes the intro extremely long makes it almost not worth having. In the video, I cropped out that section of the video, because it took almost a full minute for the combo selector to disappear.

I have emailed the creator, and he says that he will probably try to find a way to toggle the combo selector, only because if you face Popeye as either the first match or face against him in Arcarde, his combo selector waits for input from a HUMAN controller. So unless you press an override key, the match won't start, and pressing an override key will disable intros so really, facing him in arcade shows up poorly.

The second Popeye in this video may be either the 90% popeye, the Medium 95% one, or the Easy 95%.

I also find the Black Popeye's intro to be a little TOO racist. I would love to see a Gray Scale Popeye Pallete, since some of the Popeye my Grandad was responsible for was B&W.

In truth, I don't really know. But I didn't hear any. If you are talking about the weird "arrueeee" like sound that happens when Popeye releases the anchor, its part of his design and (if memory serves) was used I think when he tied Bluto to an anchor and threw him. You may want to find someone who really knows...

I love your Popeye character! I have the unupdated vers., though... Mugen is sooo much fun! If you don't know about this already, a really cool Mugen game is Naruto Battle Arena! Google it, it's really fun!
