Step three of making and afterthought heel. This shows how to graft the heel closed, tighten the grafted stitches if needed, and weave in the ends. This is the final of a 3 set instructional video guiding knitters thru one way of inserting an afterthought decreased heel in a hand knit sock. I knit continental but the techniques and methods are adaptable for most knitting styles. I know there are many many ways to knit and afterthought heel .. this is the way I like knitting them at the moment.

  • the wrist warmer is a practice swatch I worked in preparation for knitting a ccatca hat, more info on the project is on my Ravlery projects page (I'm knitfrogknit there). The edge is a Punto cast on, and the squares are colour work in purl - which makes the squares look a little like squares of chocolate ... I keep thinking I should play more with those techniques
