  • wow. that's a pretty amazing collection. i have a few old schwinn's too. i always wanted one of those special edition stingrays. isn't the grey ghost supposed to be the rarest one?

  • @geovettes Thank you for watching. Yes, the Grey Ghost is the rarest. The Coaster brake model that I have is much more rare than the five speed stick shift version. All of the Stingrays with the little front wheel are called "Krates". They made them in multiple colors. In addition to the Grey Ghost, they made the Apple Krate, Lemon Peeler, Pea Picker, and Cotton Picker.

  • @geovettes (The Grape Krate was a concept that was never built by Schwinn Chicago. The limited edition Grape Krate coaster brake model was made in China in the 1990s. - In addition the Coal Krates often seen on eBay are customs built by enthusiasts and never were a production model.)

  • excellent vid man..subscribed!

  • @frequencydude Thank you for the kind compliment.

  • Well thats... beautiful. I own a 1976 Suburban 5-speed, and a 1972 Varsity 10 banger. What method other than steel wool do you find useful for restoring the chrome and paint? The Suburban is bright orange, but i would like to make it shine like the sub, and has some REALLY bad rust on the wheels. My Varsity is brown, and I was wondering if there is anyway to make it... stand out. lol

    Thanks!

  • @aaronbassist146 - Mild rubbing compound for the paint, and 0000# steel wool for the chrome. If that doesn't work, then a repaint and re-chrome would be the next step. Thank you for watching.

  • did they make the deluxe stingray in a bright green? I swear mine was, and it was a 1971-73ish

the catalogs say it came in campus green and thats much darker color than mine was Im looking for that bike! and it had the banana seat not the bucket.

  • 1:53 that is a good lookin bike.

  • I used to have a 1973 Sports Tourer until some jerk stole it from the shed at work, now I have a 1973 Super Sport. I put several thousands of miles on the Tourer, it being my primary mode of transportation, now I'm doing the same with the Super Sport, for the same reason. I take care of my bikes, so I'll probably have this one until I'm six feet under. If another thief doesn't strike, that is.

  • Cool video Jim, I especially like the Challenger at 0:24

  • just got a schwinn classic cruiser for 3 days, still finding out what year it;'s from. needs some TLC but love it more than my Rossin and my Phat Kaddy, Sweat bike which put's a smile on my face everytime I ride it. Great collection, just love the Krates, I want one ;-)
