Chances are you'll have to update your bios. If you're that worried just by a 2500k i5. No bios update and you're only losing 5-10 percent at stock. The plus is sandy bridge cpus don't get as hot as ivy bridge so you can overclock them alot higher easier(like 5Ghz on high end air coolers). Buy an i5 2500k, overclock to 4.2-4.4(Depending on chip) and you're set buddy. Plus they're 10 bucks cheaper than ivy i5s. But hurry, since haswell came out they're done manufacturing sandy I5's.

Linus I need some help im kinda confused, im upgrading my cpu from a intel pentium g850 clocked at 2.9ghz which is good for gaming but im sceptical on bf4, This pentuim is a sandy bridge and suppourts my new MSI H61M-P31 (G3) Motherboard i want to get an i5 3570 ivy bridge. Can i go from sandy bridge to ivy bridge?? It also says that 'Ivybridge CPU's will work on H61/H67/P67 & Z68 Boards but a BIOS Update may be required for these Motherboards to support them' But do i have to do a BIOS update?
