  • These videos are good but this one is the only one I disagree with.

At the snap of the ball you don't take a step up and read the QB. That may work in pee-wee league but from high school - Pro Ball that wont work

U look at the Offensive linemen (mainly guard to tackle)to tell you what whether it is pass or run.

If you take a step up and it is pass that is called a "false step" and usually if ur playing a goo QB he'll take advantage of that or this will allow the tightend/WR to get behind you

  • true. In gun or an option offense the guards are very important. In 11, 12, 21 personnel LB key is usually to "read flow". That way you can quickly determine if you are seeing counter, Iso, stretch, inside zone, toss sweep, etc.

  • i disagree with the video. The eligible receivers should already be accounted for by the DB/OLB or whoever else's responsibility. The middle line backer or mike which ever you want to call it should cover the middle zone, not allowing for short little ins, or short little routes inside.

  • #4 has a beast facemask lol

  • @fjinsu If the Offensive line pops up and are about in there same starting position with there hands up and ready to push a guy off then it is a passing play. If you look at the offensive linemen and after the snap they have driven the defensive line around and are no longer in there starting position then they are creating a hole for there running play. So look after the snap at the o-line and if they look coordinated and in place then its a pass. Looks chaotic and out of place then run play

  • @CamSTL When we all get to the NFL will let you know how this works out.

  • @CamSTL hey i just started playing outside linebacker reading has been pretty difficult for me other than pulling guards its hard to tell whether or not its pass or run any tips?

  • i think he is using lineman as examples

  • @metroiman82 If your playing and option offense like the wing-T you should be taught to play a cross read. i.e. if your the sam in a 4-3 defense you should be reading the action of the opposite wing, if he doesnt motion or attack your side, you then play the run reads you have b/c someone else will be assigned to other backs. Thats how we played it and we gave up 142 yards on 42 attempts on the wing tee. the bulk of that came on a 68 yd run where we didnt play our cross reads. hope tht helps.

  • it really depends on the offense that the opposing team is running. ya know?

  • Yes an initial read you need to have vision and see both guards AND the tailback. But if it's pass you need to see the QB immediately to see his drop. That determines what routes are being run. (3 step= you must break flat) then head on a swivel and get to your zone hook/curl curl/flat etc.
