What can I say? I have a taste for these things. I would've saved a slice for Paul, truly I would have .... but as they say, meringue is thicker than blood. I had to act quickly.

FINALLY an accurate fucking thumbnail. When will Youtube let us select our own?

Apparently the random (read : fuckin' stupid) system they currently use is to stop people from putting misleading pictures on the thumbnail.

Fair enough, but it also prevents me from putting accurate pictures on the thumbnail. I frequently have a choice of "blurry shot of camera turning" or "Scotty's ugly noggin" which is hardly going to get people clicking my videos. Sometimes you want to select something that's true to the video, and you can't.

Furthermore, they reckon that using misleading thumbnails is against the Youtube Terms of Service.

OH REALLY NOW. Then why did you give a custom thumbnail feature to those cunts who call themselves "Partners"? Do you have any idea how many of these fru-fru, jump-cutting blogger morons (Phillip De Franco, What The Buck Show, et al) are misusing this feature and putting totally inappropriate stuff there??

Fair is fair - I've made a dozen prank videos that trick people. But I think the playing field should be even, and you shouldn't be rewarding boring-ass bloggers with a feature that would be better utilised in the hands of someone with more than a pea between their ears.

Fuck's sake .....

I would say all of your videos are more worthwile than any and all of those partners! I frequently watch your Star Trek (2009) reviews, funny and well made.

Distasteful is very accurate. Everytime I log into YouTube I am disgusted with the videos that are featured. All a buch of idiots blubbering about pop-culture nonsense. What happened to good videos being featured? Oh yeah, they were pushed aside for profit.

It's nice to see a user that is against YouTube's greedy underhanded ways.

I could see myself selling out of course, but I'd have to do something worthwhile first and frankly there's only a couple of videos out of my 200-odd that I'm even remotely proud of. I just get sick of revenue being raised from spotty assholes blogging about random nonsense, because any shmuck (ie. ME) could do that. I just find the whole business distasteful.

Right on - see there are ways and means to get the thumbnail I'm after (and as I have an old director account, video length isn't an issue). I just don't think I should have to, when people are getting revenue to violate the Terms of Service. I mean am I the only one who thinks that's fucked!?

I could collect revenue on some of my vids (I have the option) but I haven't done it because my other ones use copyrighted stuff and I don't want to fuck my viewers for a few cents.

If the partners showed an actual still of their video, believe me they would get much less views. Its like giftwrapping a piece of sh!t.

Also they don't even do a good job of picking an image to represent the video.

If you really want to pick your thumbnmail, you have to make more than half of your video consist of that image. Like this video, make it 10 minutes. 0 - 1:36 is the actual video then 1:37 - 10:00 is a picture of the pie. Just alert people that from 1:37 and on is just an image

Yeah the so called partners use only misleading thumbnails. There was one on a Angelina Jo Lee makeup tutorial and it was straight up a picture of only her! Yet in the video there is no Angelina! Not even a picture! And other people just put boobs and then talk about some random totally unrelating thing to boobs. How shameless can you get?

The point of the thumbnail is to give you a preview.
