A 4-Beam balance is used to demonstrate how to read the sliders on a pan balance with 4 beams. Estaimating is done on the smallest slider to give an approximation of what the distance is between the smallest lines given on the slider that reads 100ths of a gram. We imagine 10 lines between these smallest lines and approximate how far the slider is over from the line representing the smaller mass to the next line over, which represents the next larger mass.
