I remember seeing documentaries from President Kennedy's funeral and I was amazed at the quality of sound and musicianship from "The President's Own" - especially from a black and white recording on TV.

During the passing of President Reagan I was living in Staunton VA. While watching the news coverage I decided to get in my car and drive to DC. It's a day that I'll never forget. I met people from all over the country that were there for the president. I waited hours to walk through the Capital rotunda. Its been 6 years and seeing the faces and expressions in the photos still bring back memories.

The music is National Hymn, God of Our Fathers and its performed by "The Presidents Own" Marine Band. I believe this was a favorite of President Reagan and this arrangement was written for his inauguration.

  • I miss that old man, he was my Commander in Chief, my friend, Hell sometimes I even thought he was my grandfather. There won't be another like him for many, many years, maybe never... sleep well Mr. President. We miss you very much. God bless you. Thanks Gianni

  • @timpedersen I was there too. It was hot as hell. I saw a member of one of the bands, wearing a heavy uniform, faint from the heat.

  • @Snicklefritz1979 I will agree with you on the Respect for the Office of the Presidency and as a fellow American I served my country honorably and faithfully in times of peace and conflict. However, Ronald Wilson Reagan is one of the better Presidents we have had but unfortunately we are burdened by the worst type now with the obamamessiah jackass in chief who certainly is NOT my commander in chief and is un-American as well as non-American but is a marxist communist!

  • I didn't like Reagan, but I respect the Office of the Presidency in which he served.

  • I was there... a million people absolutely silent... it was unreal.

  • Our great commander
