When they do lose containers, some will float about two feet under water surface for quite a while. Not the same as hitting a whale or sea turtle with a boat. Container will tear open hull.

a 20ft container contains an average $50,000 worth of merchandise and this vessel has a capacity of 4500such containers. do the maths yourself.
