In part 5 of his talk, Rowland shows and discusses his own works of art.

On March 5, 2011 Rowland Ricketts, one of the 2011 Form, Not Function jurors, spoke at the Carnegie Center for Art & History in New Albany, Indiana. He shared information about his work utilizing natural dyes and historical processes to create contemporary textiles that span art and design. His recent projects work to involve others in the process of local plant dyes to question how we live, create, and consume in contemporary America. Trained in indigo farming and dyeing in Japan, Rowland received his MFA in Fibers from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005 and is currently an assistant professor of Textiles at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. His work has been exhibited at the Textile Museum, Cavin-Morris Gallery in New York, and was included in Fiberart International 2007. Visit his website at www.rickettsindigo.com for more information and to see images of his artworks.
