During a recent appearance at The Mysterious Bookshop in New York, Michael Atkinson discussed his new novel HEMINGWAY DEADLIGHTS and the many misconceptions about the great Ernest Hemingway.
I must agree with him. I commenced my admiration for Hemingway in the early eighties. I was surprised to see that many of my female friends, on the grounds that they considered Hemingway misogynist and as the premier representative of 'dick-lit'.
"For Whom the Bell Tolls" is definitely the best. But, I can't deny my tears when Frederick walks back to the hotel in the rain.
