Set against the backdrop of today's headline - 67% of Americans don't approve of Obama's economic policies, the film takes a provocative look at our deeply depressed economy using the words and actions of Presidents Reagan and Obama and shows the marked contrast between Reaganomics and Obamanomics. The film contrasts two views of the role that the federal government should play in our daily lives using the words and actions of Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama. Two versions of the American dream now stand in sharp contrast. One views the money you earned as yours and best allocated by you; the other believes that the elite in Washington know how to best allocate your wealth. One champions the traditional American dream, which has played out millions of times through generations of Americans, of improving one's lot in life and even daring to dream and build big. The other holds that there is no end to the "good" the government can do by taking and spending other peoples' money in an ever-burgeoning list of programs. The documentary film I Want Your Money exposes the high cost in lost freedom and in lost opportunity to support a Leviathan-like bureaucratic state.

  • Government isn't the problem. The system is what needs fixed. The people at OWS understand who has the real power in this country. We have turned into an inverted totalitarianism; meaning that corporate entities have grown so powerful that they now control government and the political process. We need to change the system, not the people in office. The umbilical cord between washington and wall st needs to be cut, and we must move to proportional representation. Only then can we have a voice.

  • @JTEsterkamp Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Don't corporate entities mainly gain power in Washington through corrupt government bureaucracies that allow themselves to be bought? The people make up the system and are therefore just as responsible as the we the people who vote to put them in office.

  • wait, the USPS is not broke, neither is SSA .. this are lies

  • @denisrenelara Are you being serious, or just extremely sarcastic? Just wondering...

  • Thanks for watching everyone! I enjoy seeing a good, (somewhat) healthy debate on here.

  • @Texmurphy51 OWS is not a small group, in fact it has spread around the world, with occupy protests being held around the world. Are there tea party protests being held around the world? The tea party is an AstroTurf movement, it may have started as a grassroots but it is far from that now. Tea Party is only in the USA, while OWS has had protests in 950 cities over 82 countries.

  • @JTEsterkamp sez"OWS does not want to destroy America"

Maybe not but if their demands were met it would

Completely open borders, minimum wage $20/hour, Free college for all, FREE EVERYTHING.

OWS is a very small group pumped up by the media, (they helped grow it)

Tea Party was supressed by the media & was a true grass roots movement.

OWS has gotten out of control & will be rejected by Dems in the future

  • @iwantyourmoneydoc I do not disagree with what you say. When I say system I mean parts of government as well. The US needs electoral reform, the two party system needs to end. It would be nice to elect people who will make a change, the only problem is that most won't. Look at the GOP nominees, the only one that will change things is Ron Paul, the rest are just more of the same. Romney and Gingrich are all talk and Santorum is a statist. Ron Paul 2012.

  • @Texmurphy51 While the Tea Party and OWS share similarities I would not call OWS a capitalization of the Tea Party. The Tea Party has good ideas especially when it comes to economics. I think though the Tea Party doesn't see the the picture like OWS does. OWS does not want to destroy America, and neither does the Tea Party. They both are doing what they think is best! The Tea Party has wasted too much of it time focusing on petty issues (Birthers, social conservatism)

  • Pelosi! I will NEVER forget what you said, "We need to pass this bill so we can see what's in it." Wow, hey you keep her in office CA.

  • @JTEsterkamp sez"The people at OWS understand who has the real power in this country"

    Really?

The OWS is an attempt to capitalize on the Tea Party movement. Ironically they have similar demands in that Government needs to change. However the OWS is backed by groups that want to destroy America not rebuild it. You only need look at their original demands & all the Communists who came out in their support.

OWS has been abandon by the Dems who started it

  • i like this movie it has a good message

  • oh yes sure, and who's money is it that fuckin fascist republican want to spend for war? so whats better, to spend it for war or for health/education? the spent money for war is 10 times higher and the fascists would spend even more if the ycould. hmm but dont care, it comes in again from the stolen war-oil. or why are you us-americans paying the half price for fuel compared to us, europeans? yes bad bad socialists... socialist=social i can see only goodness in this word!

  • Just brilliant and oh so funny.
