Lyrics

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely youll buy your pint cup !
and surely Ill buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But weve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS
And theres a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o thine !
And well take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

  • @123ETERNALDEATH you make your kind look very bad....based off your name you clearly have a troubled life....and your actions and words confirm it.

  • barack obama - YOU ARE A NIGGER

  • barack obama crucifies JESUS CHRIST over and over and over and over and over again

  • @TheSoulVault I've nothing against Aretha Franklin, BTW. She'd have made a fine job of the original tune instead of this mush. For the original tune and words (though not all of them) check out Madelaine Cave's version on here

    It's Auld Lang Syne (literally "old long since"), not "Zyne". Pronounce it as it if were spelled "sign" and you won't mangle the sense of it.

  • @ TheSoulVault. Click on "show more" and you'll see a horrible hash-up of the lyrics. Yes, the words include "cup of kindness", but it should be "pint stowp", not "pint cup", "braes" not "slopes" (doesn't even mean the same), "gowans" not "daisies", "fiere" not "friend" ("soul brother" is nearer the original meaning), and several more. She's also singing the crass "party" tune rather than the more subtly constructed original, the one Rab sent to his publisher (though not his composition).

  • Soulful Auld Lang Syne.....thank you Aretha!

  • @Arbuthnotification Cup is one of the lyrics. Not sure where you are hearing "slopes" and "daisies"

  • What's all this "cup" and "slopes" and "daisies"? Those aren't the words!

  • Aretha, you are the Greatest. You are the Queen!

  • Buon anno Aretha!
