War on terror in the East- Civilians in Vakarai liberated

President hails Soldiers for Liberating Eastern People from Terror Clutches
His Excellency the President and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka Honourable Mahinda Rajapaksa has once again honoured his soldiers for their valiant effort to rid the motherland of the scourge of terrorism.

President Rajapaksa issuing a statement congratulates all members of the armed forces for their recent success in defeating the LTTE terrorists and liberating the Vakarai, Verugal and Kadiraveli areas in the Eastern Province.

The President also commends the bravery, courage and the commitment shown by the soldiers during the battle and conveys his sympathy to the families of those fallen heroes.

He says, "It is because of their noble sacrifice that that 95% of the civilians in the Eastern Province are now being able to enjoy freedom, democratic rights and to live without fear. Let us ensure that the whole nation will be free from the horrors of terrorism so that their sacrifice will never go in vain"

President Rajapaksa in his vision for the nation has stated that he would take all necessary actions to remove the fears of the terrorism from the future generations of the country.
