On March 24th, mock corporate polluters set up shop at UN headquarters to promote their false solutions to the climate crisis.

In an attempt to capitalize on the "occupy" brand, corporate representatives erected an "illegal occupation" of their own -- and the NYPD forces that usually defend the interests of the 1% were forced to evict the corporate polluters from international domain. While the "corporate polluters" were led away in handcuffs and their branded pop-ups (Exxon Mobil, Bank of America, Chase, BP, etc.) torn down, the onlooking 99% cheered the long-awaited eviction of the 1% from their global occupation.

The March 24th eviction of Wall Street polluters was the kick-off event for a month-long campaign to "Disrupt Dirty Power" nationwide, an effort to connect the dots between corporate polluters, corrupt politicians and the destruction of the planet.

So the 1% are power plants, gas companies, banks..funny because it is we the CONSUMERS who give power to those corporations. All the corruption that grows out of them is a direct result of our complete dependence on them. we let ourselves be manipulated. Time to take responsibility, move toward a sustainable, responsible lifestyle. Hope no one takes this the wrong way.

Whoa! Getting arrested in international territory!

This IS what we need to be talking about. Why are we busy arresting people in public parks when the real criminals, the corporatocracy are getting away with everything?

good points.. there's some very irresponsible gov't spending & legislation passed. but for example public transit is being cut off where I live mainly because fewer people use it. Not to mention clean energy which is a huge problem no one even thinks about, let alone take action. that's what I see but you probably know more than I do, I was just stating an observation. peace.

I totally agree. but let me also give u some examples of public policy influenced by corporations that have made it so much harder 4 us as the "99%" to become less dependent on corps. 1. subsidies for profitable fossil fuel companies have made solar and wind struggle to take off. 2. huge gov't spending on highways while ignoring public transit. 3. US leaders refusal to join intl' agreements even though science on climate is clear. Very hard to influence these decisions as consumers alone

You're right..but we need to hold ourselves accountable first and foremost. It is clear the corporations and most politicians don't give a damn about our well being. But ultimately It is we who need to boycott Monsanto products, decrease our reliance on oil, withdraw our accounts from predatory banks, and be environmentally responsible. This is what everyone needs to do, before protesting. Our comfortable, detached lifestyle is the root of the problem.

After all, we are "the 99%" !

I think you are missing the point a little. It is not about saying we don't have responsibilities as consumers. It is about holding people in positions of political and economic power accountable for allowing the destruction of the planet. We have to hold them accountable AND be consumers that spend in line with our values.

No matter who is protesting, it's police state, that is very obvious.
