We're only in the time of the 5th Fire. A great deception has yet to be revealed at which point young people will turn from the elders by their own volition (6th fire).
Today's elders say that the residential school era was the 6th, but the youth back then didn't turn from the elders, they were taken. Many of the elders just don't realize that they've been deceived too (some are active willing participants in the deception; be careful who you trust).
