As part of the D23 Expo a Disney Imagineer (I didn't get his name) explains the storyline and ride concept for the new Mystic Manor ride coming to Hong Kong Disneyland.

Why American keep thinking Chinese don't like haunted houses? Have anyone notice how popular those Haunted Houses are in HKDL Halloween time?

Haunted Houses are the thing here in South-East Asia, and asians here love it.. They just love being scared and the queues went up to 2 hours for a school fair haunted house.. As a creative designer for my schools haunted house, We had a blue sky phase, sketches, concept art, design phase, storytelling phase, effects and engineering phase to create a 'well, cheapy' but immersive experience..

@fourzones I think this ride will be great although not as good as The Haunted Mansion. You have to remember how many years Haunted Hansion took to design, and was one of the last rides Walt had any input in to. This ride would fit in great in Animal Kingdom though (now theres an idea for Disney)

Too bad the budget has been cut on this ride and it won't have the trackless ride system. Seems like this happens too often. The Little Mermaid ride was announced as a multi-level ride only to go through tons of scaling down due to budget cuts. Can't complain about new dark rides though. Much better than replacing horizons with an expensive carnival ride.

i'm excited for this ride! i think it looks awesome and it's cool to see something different for once.

however, disneyland's haunted mansion is my favorite and always will be! i love the history behind it :)

@fourzones i love new ideas (for example i was very excited when phantom manor was created, and the same it was for star tours 2). but...............mystic manor doesn't tell me anything (probably i hate it so much for the external building).

also the storyline is a little weak.

but probably you are right.

@alantic1 well that's your choice and i respect that, the parks are mainly targeting chinese customers anyway, but looking at your comments, I can clearly see that you are someone who reject new ideas. new ideas are very important you know. its very unfortunate

@alantic1 that is ok, but you have to understand that the chinese people view ghosts differently, so do not think ghosts are funny. they respect their ghost ancestors.
