This video is my 100th on YouTube and I thank you musicians and animal lovers for your support.

The intention of this video is really not about the training
but about love... Love, trust and bonding between animals and humans!
This is day two of training (clicker and telepathic) of Baron the chinchilla.
Chinchillas are very smart and seem to enjoy learning and pleasing their guardians.

  • question! I have learned that giving them 'treats' when training or just to show affection should only be 1-2 of them ( example 1-2 cherios ) since its bad for there little tummy, I see you using instead of store bought chinchilla treats, just regular cherios, since its not high in sugar is it alright to feed them more then 1-2 a day more then once or twice a week? Im thinking of getting a chinchilla and im studding as much as i can an answer would be awesome ! p.s your videos are GREAT!

  • @bumblebabe999 they cant really be trained as such..

they will learn to do a few things for the attention and treat

I hardly give any treats ever...

but when I do I use a GOJI Berry or natural rose hip...

I use unsweetened cheerios, or shredded wheat occasionally

and I usually break those up in 1/2 or a quarter

I did this with Baron and it was fun...but we dont do this much anymore

Baron I found would do ALL of this ..with no clicker , no commands

just if he saw I had a treat LOL

  • @bumblebabe999 also in this video I am feeding his OXBOW CHINCHILLA DELUXE pellets as his treat. I broke them in half .

there was no sugar at all or fatty treats, nuts or anything

his treats were all from his high quality food pellet

  • @jglaser333 good to know, thanks very much! Its good to know what just giving them some of their regular food pellets by hand can be a treat without worry for them. I would much rather raise my chinnie on thinking just some of his food by hand will be treat enough for them. funny how they like to behave when there is something yummy to get out of it LOL thanks again!

  • @bumblebabe999 they sure do thank YOU

  • @nevergofullretard11 thank you and happy new year

  • @jglaser333 yes, i figured this out as well about the raisins. which are no longer in thier diet :) and thank you for your response! my chins are getting smarter by the day! thank you and Baron!

  • @nevergofullretard11 hredded wheat, un-sweeetened cheerios, gogi berries, pieces of special salads with safe herbs from either WHIMSY'S MENAGERIE rescue,or from spoiled rotten chinchilla rescue. Lots of people take their good quality pellet they use and break those up into small edible pieces and use that to train. Though I am proud of this video ...I do NOT spend time training my chinnies anymore. I just let them be

  • @nevergofullretard11 ok first things first. Unlike what you may have heard...RAISINS are not good for them, not for training and not for treats. Chinchillas can NOT process sugars the way we do, //nuts , seeds, etc can kill them (give them fatty liver disease, GI stasis, and so on). Good treats for your daily use as well as training ( in tiny amounts) would or could be,,, s

  • i read in lots of places that its a really bad idea to feed your chin too many treats (they say it makes the digestive system messed up and could kill them). so i only give my two chins ONE treat a day (dehydrated fruit like raisins and stuff). they are quite docile, but they get skittish easily. I'm a new chin owner (i've had em about 2 weeks now), so your videos have really helped me out. so i ask, what treats are good for training? thanks :)
