I liked the editing and shots obviously it's not Kurosawa but shows talent. Well done. :)

@Stobal32 Sorry, I don't buy your explanation here. The original "Rashomon" story is set under the Rashomon gate and has a completely different story from "In a Grove". There is no three person perspective, no samurai or young woman, nothing. There is absolutely nothing to suggest that you could have gotten this story from reading "Rashomon"...unless you mistakenly thought this was the title of "In a Grove". Please, convince me otherwise.

I wrote a rapport on 'Rashomon' for my film studies at university. I never quite got the meaning of the film. Its technically well-made, but the story is baffling (which is the whole point, I know!)

cool trailer! I love that short story!

Well then...after you finish this project, I highly recommend you watch this film immediately. It is one of the finest movies ever made.
Oh, don't worry, this project never got the greenlight. We made the trailer for a pitch session back in film school. I have no plans to pursue it. Not for quite a while at least. I really do need to see Rashomon though. I've only seen pieces of it. Maybe I'll ask my girlfriend for the Kurosawa box set for Christmas, haha.

Nice compositions, action non convincing though. Nice try. And you forgot to credit Kurosawa.

Actually, Ryunkosuke Akutagawa wrote "In a Grove" in 1922, the movie on which Kurosawa's "Rashomon" was based. That means that "In a Grove" is in the public domain, allowing anyone to adapt it without the need to secure the rights.
We were attempting to adapt the short story, not remake Kurosawa's film, which strayed from the original story on many occasions.
So tell me again, how did I "forget" to credit Kurosawa.

Also, come to think of it, why did you use the name Rashomon anyway? Why not "In a Grove"? And yes, I'm aware that Kurosawa spliced the two stories together.

I used the title "Rashomon" because the first time I read the story it was in a book by Akutagawa called "Rashomon". The funny thing is that when I was pitching this project back at school, I had not even heard of Kurosawa's "Rashomon", and hadn't seen it at the time, to ensure that i wasn't copying anything.
