FC United seemed to have the better of Chorley for the majority of the match and Michael Norton's brace was clearly the difference. His hard-working style gave the reds a clear two goal edge in this North West cup match. Chorley's Andrew Russell headed the Magpies back into the game, before Astley Mulholland was brought down by their goalie leading Dean Stott to convert from the spot. Wayne Madden's late consolation didn't change the result and FCs fans went home happier and through to the quarter-finals of the Doodson Sport cup.
