So my DVD/CD player was crapping out on me and I finally figure out how to operate it by applying a little force as opened to get it to fully open. Not enough force to break anything. Just the weight of the fingers to provide some resistance was all it needed to not stop halfway.

  • I agree, it's an awesome unit! ... The installer is equally awesome!

After installing it, I figured I may have messed up so I pulled the unit out, hooked it back up with out reinstalling it into the kit. The problem still occurred.

  • Mine did the same thing. Sent it back to 6th ave. electronics for replacement and they kept my unit and cash. I never heard from them again!

  • Sounds like your installer didn't do a good job. The kit is probably hitting the sides of the screen and blocking it.

As for the Pioneer Avic Z3 Navigation System, I love it. 30 GB Hard drive is fast and mapping is quicker than the DVD based Navi's.

  • I do have to save the unit is hard to use, I am sorry I bought it. The map gets confused and directs me into U-turns and all sorts of weird directions. To find options and features it is the hardest mapping and car stereos I have ever used.

  • The installer did not install the proper frame around the unit. I had the exact same thing happen on mine. Once the proper kit was installed it worked fine. I even sent the unit to Pioneer and they found no problems with the unit.

  • Go with Kenwood you guys OR Alpine Those Last!

  • Very nice pioneer!! Can you change the color on the buttons?? Instead on blue could you change to orange??

  • I had that happen because the techs used the wrong scowl or dash spacer that frames and mounts the unit. Or not one at all.

  • I currently have the D3 and thinking about getting the Z3. Should i trade it? has anyone had both? Let me know thanks.

  • i had the same problem and just fixed it

i took the screen apart by the 2 scews 1 on each side, on the left and right of the bottom monitor when open u than pop out the monitor and check were the track is hitting and making it pull back make the adjustment to allow the rack to move free and clear and that solves the problem
