Kingdom Hearts II - The Pride Lands 1 Part 1

Well, this is it. This is where I've wanted to be ever since I started this whole playthrough. Understand that being crazy in love like I am, I am probably going to digress and say lots of things that aren't shown in the game or even relevent, but feel like I have to. We all understand this? Good, then let's get going...

Initial Status: Sora is Level 35, Donald and Goofy are Level 36 (It's set up like this for a personal reason I'll tell later.)

Simba, the son of King Mufasa, is the heir to the throne of the Pride Lands. One day, his envious uncle, Scar, told him to wait in the gorge while his father got a surprise for him. When Simba decided to practice his roaring, the ground shook, and he turned to see a massive stampede of wilderbeests. He ran for his life among the stampede, and when he was flung from a tree, Mufasa rushed in and saved him. However, Mufasa was pulled back into the stampede. Simba saw his father jump out, clinging to the cliff, clawing his way up, and Simba hurries to help him. But Scar was waiting at the top, and threw Mufasa off the cliff to his death. Simba could only see his father falling, and all he could do was cry out in vain. He ran away from home, believing that he was responsible for Mufasa's death, and befriended Timon, a meerkat, and Pumbaa, a warthog, and grew up under the life of 'Hakuna Matata', which means no worries. But the memory of his father's death still haunts the back of his mind.

Sora, Donald and Goofy land in the new world, and Sora immediately notices something different about themselves. They've all become animals that exist in the Savannah. Sora has become a lion cub, Donald a bird, and Goofy a land turtle. They look and see hyenas staring at them, and Donald tells them they're just passing through. But Shenzi, one of the head hyenas, wants them to stick around for lunch, and that's when Goofy realizes that the hyenas want all them for lunch. They all split up and run, but Sora is not used to running on four legs, so he trips. Just when he's about to be eaten, another lion roars in the distance, and all the other hyenas go toward it. Sora is thankful that that happened, but takes some time to learn how to move around on four legs.

There are some notable differences when Sora is in his lion form in this world. You cannot use any Drives, Summons, or Limits. The form's action (blue) abilities are fixed, so unequip all your action abilities on your main form, along with any growth (yellow) abilities, and equip all the green (support) abilities that you desire to have on, as they carry over. However, there is good in being in lion form. Sora's movement speed becomes about three times as fast as normal, and he becomes more difficult to hit. He is more potent in aerial combat, and he can chain his magic until it runs out. Plus, he's so dang cute!

Sora, Donald and Goofy move out after getting used to the new attire, and turn to see a lioness being chased by Heartless, so they hurry and help her. Once they defeat them, the lioness thanks him for the help. Sora asks if there are any more Heartless, and she never knew they were called that, as she rarely hunted beyond the Pride Lands. When Sora asks about Riku, Organization XIII or Pete, she doesn't know anything. Sora decides they should go there anyway, but she tells them not to, as Scar and the hyenas have made the living conditions unbearable. There's no food and everyone is about to starve. Sora says it's no problem, and she says that Sora might be about to help the kingdom. Goofy asks if she means taking down Scar, and she tells them that he came to power after their last king died. Sora realizes that means that Scar is the king, and talks with Donald and Goofy about how they can't go de-throning kings. However, Sora thinks that if he takes Scar down, he can be the next king, but Goofy gives him a hint not to. Sora does want to see the Pride Lands, so he talks with the lioness, who introduces herself as Nala, and she heads off to talk with the other lionesses. Sora tells Donald and Goofy they are to go to Pride Rock, so the group sets off to it.
