Toshiba Tecra 8000 : Pentium II 366, 192MB RAM, 20GB HDD, 8x DVDROM, 14.1'' 1024x768 - just a showcase with 140 Passmarks (quite good result for an 1999 made laptop) - it's my second 8k - bought another stronger one coz it's very nice machine :)

  • I have the same thing, except the hard drive is close to dead. Scandisk almost killed the drive. No CD drive, either. I got it for free at a yard sale with the dock and everything. Now I just need a new HDD. Do you know where I can find a hard drive for this thing for a cheap price?

  • @degru5091 It's typical IDE hard disk. I'm sure disk of size up to 40GB will run fine, I don't know how about bigger disks. You may also try some PATA-SSD disk (I have one 8GB with ide 2.5'' -> ZIF-IDE adapter) or CF card with IDE-CD adapter, beware some of CF cards are somehow incompatible with Toshiba (like 4GB Kingston I have, runs in usual PC but doesn't boot on any of my toshbias while old 128mb CF boots fine)

  • i have the same with 64ram and custom linux OS, slow but strong machine!

i use it allmost every day.

  • @SayaYunani Idpn't have it anymore, my friend took it for his mother to act as electronic typewriter. But on the other hand I have 8100 and 8200 :)

  • I have the same computer as you, but I have 64 MB of RAM ... u_u

  • @jessicaH5140 With an adapter, you can. I advise a PCMCIA adapter that goes into the slot on the side. Then your USB port is free.

  • @GameOverNoVideo The HDD is IDE. An IBM TravelStar 6GT DADA-26480, to be exact. That's the 6.4 GB one. I am looking for a replacement drive, because I got mine with a nearly dead HDD inside (at a yard sale) and MS Scandisk nearly killed it. Now it just barely works. Hope I can salvage something off of it...
