  • His files are intact at the USARPAC facility in Missouri which provided (I think) the certification

needed for his citizenship. Others who did not fight in Bataan were not so lucky even though they were recognized guerillas.

  • Jess Zuño, I am glad to hear your father was fully recognized towards combat service. I discovered through research it was common for Army participants not receiving the BSM, BSM (OLC) and/or the Combat Infantryman badge.

  • By reinforcing the beleaguered Phil. Scouts despite the fanatical attack of the japaneze Infantry, they were able to stop the onslaught of the enemy and the line held.

Their Bn Comdr, Maj Jacobo Zobel upon learning their accomplishment shed tears of pride.

  • Yes, my dad got full recognition including the full compensation after Pres. Obama signed the bill to that effect being a U.S. citizen since 1983. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and the American Defenders of Bataan Corregidor. He rejoined our Creator on 10 Jan 2010 in Chicago, IL and was buried with full military honors in Rosario, Batangas. His casket was draped with both U.S. and Phil. flags.

  • Jess Zuño,

Did your dad receive full recognition towards combat service?

    Robert

  • Very nicely put together. It's great to see specially some of the youth who participated to show Philippine History.

The battle of Bataan was the last battle of WWI and the first ground battle of the US forces for WW II.

Maraming Salamat for doing this 1st reenactment event for the public in Philippine soil for telling their story and honoring the sacrifices of our greatest generation.

"Mabuhay ang Philippine Scouts, Philippine Army and Constabulary!"

  • When is the subject going to be on the table regarding recognition for thir combat service against the Japanese?

I have no doubt majority of those involved in the battles of Bataan and Corregidor never received full recognition.

    Robert
