probably one of the gretest movies ever made in Bengali...

Ritwik has left his signature which remains indelible till now & no threat of being erased to come from nybody in the next thousands years.
But unfortunately, we ,perhaps very carefully, have always tried to hide such STAR within the CLOUD !!
Only social clowns can do this. Hopefully, we r so.

excellent!
The night the storm broke open my doors is poetry of the highest order. We all can feel the magic.
What really takes this to a different league are Ritwik's vision, Debabrata's genius and the brilliant realism of Anil & Supriya. You can at once identify with them and cry with them. This was movie for the Bengalis made by the greatest creative forces in Bengal. Will we ever see the like of this again? Let's hope and wait...

Rabindrasangeet has been used in many films over last 65+ years. But there are not many films where one song tells us so much and unifies the story with the audience. Mr. Ghatak realized this song would bring an extra dimension of pathos to the movie, specially when sung by great George Biswas.
Also, please note the light grid pattern in the film within almost total darkness during the song. Creativity in full bloom. And Supriya Devi melted into the character so well. What a masterpiece!!!
