  • @PaleoAthletics with one arm in-case that wasn't clear

  • @PaleoAthletics Just look at any power lifters and look at their pot belly. If I were you I would take down my MS degree from the wall and only put it back up after you've reach at least level II Chek Practitioner.

  • @drushton2002 Paul Chek has demonstrated on numerous occasions his ability to clean and jerk a 130 lbs. Dumbbell! Your MS is worthless because you don't understand something as simple as the inner core unit. I'm 170 and squat 445 (not impressive but I doubt you could catch me on the rugby field) without a belt. It takes more time to get up to higher levels but once you do your much more stable. Weight belts cause all kinds of strength coaches with MS degrees to blow a disks.

  • @drushton2002 The weight belt DOES increase intra-abdominal pressure, and as such, creates rigidity through the trunk. However, that is supposed to be the role of the transverse abdominis. Instead, the weight belt provides the TA with an artificial point of leverage, and thereby creates a faulty neural firing. The TA winds up doing the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do. This is a major problem for contact sports such as football, when they're not wearing belts on the field.

  • As a Olympic Weightlifter, a strength coach, one who has a MS in Exercise Physiology and one who has read actual literature on the subject I can tell you this man is just selling his certification. Vladimir Zatsiorsky states wearing a belt increases intra-abdominal pressure reducing the load on the spine (he is a respected biomechanist). Also are you kidding me with the complete ignorance his example? The urine was due to rehydration after weigh in! Can you Clean and Jerk 220lbs? Doubt it!

  • Great vid - thanks Paul! You the man

  • What is that video I can buy on joint stability again?

  • I've got my CSCS (among other certs)and many times it's a matter of ego that permits a person to objectively look at the science as it ought to be conceptualized. The saddest thing is when a person holds the CSCS, their words are listened to- meaning people follow their advise. So if your friend isn't promoting 90% of lifts without a belt, you can sure bet he's an advocate of the belt as a training modality. It DOESN'T MEAN that the belt doesn't have use! It's simply misunderstood.

  • My friend has has a CSCS and I had him read your Abs in or Abs out article and your articles on the Inner and Outer core. He said it was a "nice theory" but is sticking with his weight belt only "turned around because its better." Some people just are too smart for their own good.
