@rolandvanderent -- in any case, it is very sad that the food doesn't go to people who need it if it is still good. As far instant gasification, I'm not sure, to be honest. Maybe somebody else can answer that one for both of us....? Anyway, take care and tot ziens! =D
@rolandvanderent -- ah, okay, I see. Geen probleem voor jouw Engels. Het is niet als mijn Nederlands dat goed is ;D. I agree that they should donate it just a day or two before its sell date. That is a great point that you make. Maybe some places do that, but a lot don't. In one sense, I think it is greed (I have noticed many supermarkets will try to sell food that is so close for half price). Also, I think regulations and the sheer problem of how to deliver the stuff prevents it from happening.
@cantecleer: oké sorry for my english. i ment the food that will go past its due date in 1 or 2 days. I think you allso bye food that last at least a week? I like the idea of biogas.. london was the city with first streetlights run of of it. How does it stand up to instant gasification? greets

@rolandvanderent -- unfortunately, at least here in the U.S., so many regulations and health guidelines prevent using food that's passed the sell by date in the manner you describe. It is a shame and makes little sense, but that's probably the reason that the supermarkets only have the options shown in this video. In reality, if they are not able to donate the food to food banks, the biogas route is a good alternative.
It's pretty nice to see that th supermarket recycles, but better is to use the good product say in 1-2 days due, that people maybe not bye, give it to food shelters! Thats even better. Good luck
