it´s for other memory cards that u can use, not only usb... u can create a ps1/ps2 memory card on your ps3

that part is not for putting ps1 memory cards in, its for putting SD cards, Memory stick duo and some other thing. Available on the 60 gig ps3 which is now discontinued in the US

Dont worry about it its only on the older models. The newer ones have the ability to create an internal memory card for the Ps1
