You don't even need to add rooting hormone to clippings to propagate Blackberry. You can just tip-layer a stem. Choose a stem long enough to bend to touch the ground--preferably away from your main plant roots-- bend it and bury the tip into the ground about 5", holding it in with rocks if need be. In months the tip will grow upwards and out, and the bend underground will set roots. Once the tip is out about a foot, cut the stem from the mother tree, and gently dig out and move the new plant.
