I liked the "automatic" system, for IT MADE THOSE WHO DIDN'T WANT TO BUCKLE UP TO USE THEIR SEAT BELTS. It's the law, and maybe a traffic ticket and fine will be a good reminder to those who disregard the law that makes sense......

it was a countermesure of poor usage rates of normal seat belts mainly in the US, but you still had to fasten the manual lap belt, so if you do use a seatbelt the auto system is made redundent.

I meant to put if not of

This sucks. If there was a crash, you can slip right underneath it of you don't put on the lap belt!

I like automatic seatbelts and I think that they are cool when they go over you.
-
you can undo the seat belt :)

i remember these! my mom drove a late 80's early 90's mazda 626 and it had this.

That is so funny. Of course, I have never used one, but for the unfortunate ppl who have, I have nothing but sympathy. It looks really anoying. What if you just want to chill in your car?

It may have been impressive in 1991
I think I saw that on America's Funniest Home Videos once. Some guy had bought a new car with auto belts and it smacked him in the face as he tried to get out. Too funny.

my god some people are lazy, it takes absolutely no effort to put a proper 3-point seatbelt on and are safer much safer in a crash
