@backpackerable Hi I like your comments about the Norway. She was my favorite ship and will always be and like you I have the same feelings whe n I would hear that magnificent voice of hers. I sailed on her four times and used to see her sail weekly when I lived in South Beach and there was nothing like hearing those horns of hers as she passed by. She sounded like a real ship should not like many of the ships today that sound like they have hair balls when they blow their horns.
I love her voice.... I have the gooseflesh when hearing her. She was beautiful. I miss her. She truly had a soul.... the way she got dismantled makes me sick to my stomac. I might be a bit chauvinistic about her, but I do think she is the best liner ever built even if some others Americans or English were very fine.
I've been on her as she sailed as the NORWAY from Miami !! An awesome ship !! Too bad our use it/dump it mentality made her gone in such an sick-making way !! SHAME ON THOSE RESPONSIBLE !!!!!! Diving and spending millions and millions of dollars to see the TITANIC !! But on the other hand dismantling a sailing classic !!! I don't get it !!
I heard her horns many years ago when she departed for a cruise from Miami. They are much more impressive in person. She certainly was a sight pulling from the quay and sailing. I will always remember her.
@MechaRage She was scrapped at Alang, India, in 2008.
