  • Wonderful. This movie should've been release theatrically. Thompson deserved an Oscar for her performance. A sudden sting is felt whenever I see it, reminding me of things lost, whether it be my innocence, youth, someone, time. I respect the film's power, and it's effect leaves me breathless. I take it with me whenever I am angry, depressed, whatever. It brings me back to life. It brings me back my compassion. Thanks and more for posting it.

  • Wonderful. Profound. This movie had quite an effect upon me. The score, superb. I too experience a "sting" which stays with me even after the movie ends. Bittersweet and revealing in depicting how love is truly the universal power, and just how much we all truly need it, regardless of the "strength" we exude......falsely. Emma Thompson in a word....brilliant. I write this comment 10 years after this movie aired on HBO. It continues to leave my body breathless, while my soul takes flight.

  • Im a last semester nursing student. Our Professional Issues professor made us watch this yesterday and the entire class of 24 students were sobbing throughout this movie. It had a profound affect on me and how I plan on providing care to the PEOPLE I come in contact with in the future.

  • I read this poem in my english class.. And this narration (from the movie) is pretty epic. I think i should watch the movie!

  • Ive watched this film and read the play manuscript again and again and I still love it and I cry every time.

  • this film always haunts me with the deepest sense of agony and regret.

My mom just died of breast cancer this year and this film reminds me of her struggles.

  • This poem has always haunted me.

  • Just saw this film in my nursing research class. I can guarantee there was not a dry eye in the classroom. It's an amazing film and it made me conscious of how patients should not be treated!

  • @JoeMacchiato

It is Arvo Part´s "Spiegel im Spiegel"

  • "One short sleepe past, wee wake eternally,

And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die"

unfortunately actors playing dead don't quite cut the ice !
