I'd like you to give me your opinion about my phonetic reading, please. I hope it sounds RP English!

  • hi im a british native speaker and the way you speak english sounds like exactly like the safety and emergency demonstration on aeroplanes. intonation is important in english for demonstration mood and place.

  • I did post that video about 8 months ago. I am really freak out of its magnitude! I think I will have to upload some other phonetic reading though I passed the uni subject already (it was called phonetics and phonology II). As I said a month ago for the next year I expect for the resolution of a grant to go to UCLA and so on. So, I probably get the american accent near 5 o 6 months (I say so to justify myself about the flapped r and so on). Thanks so much for your comments!

  • Thanks for your comments! Actually I am willing to join UCLA. It is somehow funny: a year ago I uploaded that video and I did not expect any single reply. :)

  • I take back what I said. I think you are already using a lot of unstressed syllables with schwa. Your attempt at RP is probably better than mine would be, although I am a native speaker of English.

  • Very good. it's not quite RP, but then only about 4% of people in Britain itself, speak RP. (I am not an RP speaker myself). I think your pronunciation will sound more "native" if you use more unstressed syllables with the reduced vowel "schwa".

  • First off you could pronounce your "pronunciation" properly..I'm not an expert yet but I think you need a diththong

in that word? Maybe the one corresponding to

    ou?

  • This isn't fake English. The responders have missed the point of the original video.

  • when i speak foreign languages i never notice my accent being different to the native speakers

  • I like it... I can only suggest you to be consistent... if you are trying to go for RP, avoid flapping of the t... as in photograph. That's more American... and if you are indeed reading from phonetic transcript I send a round of applause to youj.. keep it up.

  • i dont no fuk all bout english n i am english but im ur typical british teenager
