Because he's very well spoken and is known in the eSports community. he adopts more of a managerial role and brings a lot of attention to the team. It might seem stupid, but attention from fans also attracts potential sponsors and investors and that is the main reason a popular, well-spoken guy like Geoff will stay with EG for a long time.

@kingofgames35 He is the team captain BECAUSE he is bad, not because he's good. Idra for example doesn't have time to be teamcaptain practicing 12 hours a day. Everybody knows incontrol is pretty bad for a progamer. Even himself. He does a lot of other work with EG and is their outwards spokesperson. Playing in tourneys is just a bonus for him.
