Nate Koch, piano. This is not your most outward Brahms, but it is one that is particularly rich, even for him. When I first heard this piece I was sure it had to be late Brahms because the harmonies are so rich (like the chorale section beginning at 4:50???? Unbelievable).

The first theme is cool because it starts on a (brief) b-minor chord even though the piece is in B-major :)

And the second theme (1:45) doesn't disappoint, it is a noble theme with rising fourths ... typical of so many second themes in brahms pieces! I love those!
