@MrPete60441 unfortunately I don't think it'll ever come back the way it was back then. The late 60's, early 70's derby games were great. Closest thing now is the ARSD league here in Cal. Problem is the top skaters are all from Roller Games in the eighties and know nothing about skating a derby style game. Plus they're all getting too old. I had the sense to stop skating when I knew I should but some go till they can barely get around the track. At least we have the videos to watch.

@lasktguy You are right, very ugly uniforms for the Pioneers. I loved the old red white and blue uniforms. Also I am sure there are plenty of people who would love to see roller derby brought back again.. I miss Roller Derby and Roller GAMES..

Actually a banked track isn't that bad to fall on at all. It has alot of give because of the way it's constructed and what material is used. It's supported only in certain spots so if you know where to fall you're not hitting a hard surface. Plus the shorts we wear are made of a material that helps us slide also.

@lasktguy I've never skated the banked track, but I have played roller hockey on a wood floor and on ice and believe it or not, it's easier falling on ice. With ice you slide and it has some give. When you fall on wood (and I feel a lot on both) you just land with a thud. I think the bigger danger would be with skate blades, but who wants to live forever .

I ddon't know about that. It hurts enough falling on a banked track..and I have the screwed up back to attest to it..falling on ice would be killer.

@lasktguy How true ,I thought no one remembered real roller derby. They should bring it back on ice. During the Olympics I kept waiting for someone to give Ono the whip.

Really hated the gold and grape colored uniforms they used that year. Their red white and blues uniforms were so much better.
