the diff voltage between the positive sets may be due the magnet orientation of the individual plates

this is intresting guys, wish you would use metric sizes tho, i got rid of imperial sizing 40 years ago now. LOL, i do have thoughts tho about whats going on, tho im not electrically minded, do you think it coud be acting as a capacitor ?, if you get back to me i will inform you of what might be happening, outlandish as it might seem. LOL.

Just shake the gas bubbles loose
and the ions wil recombine and you will loose
the voltage.
You charged up the plates with H30+ and OH- ions, so they still have a charge in their lattice.. Depends how many ions have traveled into the steel plate lattice..

I have seen my electrolyser maintain a charge, so that part is not out of the ordinary ... I am not sure any of mine have ever maintained a charge for THAT long ... never tested it ... may have to take a look at that ...
BUT, the ability to get distilled water to react I find facinating ... I thought that only worked at extremes of temperature and/or voltage ...

Thanks for looking SmartScarecrow. I know most cells keep voltage for some time but after 12 hours and on top of that being able to light a LED???...I don't think so, that is very usual. Try it and tell me, but from what I remember this cell never kept its battery effect that long.
