This is free jazz but unlike much of the free jazz i've heard, it has a theme to which it stays true all the way through. Just close your eyes and imagine yourself in the studio with these guys as they make this stuff, it's freakin amazing

When I was a teenager (70's), I bought every album I could afford by Trane. When I took this one home and threw it on the player, I didn't like it (even though I love Coltrane). Needless to say, I just wasn't ready for it. I still have the original album today (2011), and i can say now with a certainty..WTF was I thinking? THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST LATTER ALBUMS FROM TRANE. Everyone is smoking HOT! There are no words for the brilliance of this music. And Elvin, well, he was from another planet.
