@DerrEinzige No shit. I didn't.

I'm not "viciously attacking" anyone, I'm saying you aren't the one to decide that.

@DerrEinzige I didn't. Elvis Costello did. In fact, I should have written: "Elvis Costello said he was never punk." He never said he was punk and dislikes the moniker. Maybe it had to do with him being initially signed by Stiff Records. Just out of curiosity, do you viciously attack everyone that just makes a simple statement?

who the fuck are you to decide that?

@squiggyklane Actually early Blondie songs are very stereotypical "punk rock". But IMO they are not as good as their later ska-and-disco-influenced materials.

After reading the comments I should probably feel sheepish saying this but.... eh? I think this is goddamn catchy. If you seriously hate it you're probably missing the off the wall irony of it. The music is awesome and the voices have the awkward timing and rough edge to counteract the lyrics? Just shut up and enjoy it or leave.

even though this song sucks, they were there first. the helped shape what punk rock is. blondie, elvis costello, talking heads, catholic discipline sound nothing like what we call 'punk' today, but it's more punk rock than any new band because punk rock was whatever they made it. if you think all punk rock is fast and short and has mohawks, you're wrong. and wrong to impose contrived, generic bands' nuances on the people who defined and created punk rock.
