This is an alternate version of T For Texas, recorded July 7th 1976 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. You can find it on Collectybles, the great double cd release from 2000.
This wasn't used for the live album One More From The Road, so, if you never heard it before, here it is. I hope you enjoy. It's as good as the other, needless to say.

If you know the original Jimmie Rodgers song, you may find this Skynyrd version a little more... powerful.

In memory of the freebirds...

  • god i will trade you all now days music for one ronald wayne van zant

  • more kids now days needs to listen more lynyrd skynyrd

  • What I am saying is that those comment at the top are wrong This song IS on the original album & 8 track..I wore em both out ..The 2000 version was out of the show order...any way ..Glad they did it.

  • @HighMaintenance2099 Remember hearing this version on the 8 track back in the day. Regardless of the version you listen to, the guitar leads doesn't get much better than this. Unless you are comparing it to "I know a little" As an aside, there are so many fantastic LS songs that most people have never heard of, , , , ,

  • I've seen this one live!!!

  • Thank you so much for this version. This is not only classic.....but ver, very rare AND youre to be commended for sharing it with us. Thanks.

  • I heard it before. On the album, the 8-track, the cassette. he intro`ed the Gaines kid on all three. And it was on King Buscuit on late niye FM as I laid under a race car working on it in a field late one night a few weeks afer the concert . The re-done cd may not have it and a few more & is not in order of the acctual concert. The Outlaws w Wayon Wiliie cd left out some tracks & had the same label...lawyers

  • So Awesome! The guitars are just incredible in this tune & it really shows an example of how much Steve Gaines added to this band. Ronnie was amazed at how much talent Steve had, he said "someday the rest of us in the band will stand in the shadow of Steve Gaines" (paraphrased) When that plane crashed, not only did it take the lives of some really great people, it also robbed the world of some super talented rock & rollers, that had only just begun their musical legacy. God Bless them all.

  • saw em here in Detroitand......THIS BAND FUCKIN'SMOKED!!!! JJJEEEEEZZUSS!!! YEAH!!!

  • @kevlarunderware I love the Beatles, but Skynyrd was better.
