A new song - played it live a couple of times, one of them here: Cafe Muse on 3.31.11. Since it's tough to hear the lyrics, i've slapped 'em below. Pretty sure I sang most of them right, if not, well...

Cahuenga Pass:

what happened to that joy?

they say those old tribes
buried their dead along Cahuenga Pass
as we now bury ours, there's a corpse in each car
all pressed against the dash

it's a funeral procession
up from hollywood to the valley below
where all those fallen stars
lay across the river from the studio

and i still drive by and wave
to old marty feldman's grave
that bug-eyed old cat that made my dad & me laugh
when i was just a boy
what happened to that joy?

these days I watch those old flames set on the hill,
through my bedroom window
if this whole town would burn
what will i have learned from all those picture shows?

that i'd played my part in another bad movie,
in another waste of time?
one more big budget disaster that melts away much faster
than a piece of mind

when i recall all i have seen
i can no longer tell what it means
it's another failed plot that would best be forgot
as it brings me no joy
what happened to that boy?
