This drill teaches the infielder to get outside the ball that is hit directly at him and create momentum towards firs base with his lower body. It is called a dead ball drill because the ball is not moving. Use a bucket or chair as an obstacle that the player has to work around. Next do this drill with rolled balls and then with balls of a fungo.
I like this drill... But use cones or small step hurdles to force the right / left step and approach to the ball
