Epoxy putty?

HELL NO!

It's hard to find, it's expensive, it's hard to work with... and it smells like SHIT! That's why I'm going to show you my alternative capping method. I hope you like it.

Remember, just because this is a 10 minute video does not mean these are quick steps. Cutting out and sanding the twelve pieces can and will take hours. If you start getting tired, STOP working, and come back to it later. If you make a mistake here, it will definitely show when the puzzle is done. If you do every piece patiently, and they all turn out perfect, you're going to have a beautiful puzzle when you're done.

So... you couldn't keep your pants on, could ya'? Now the pieces aren't going to dry properly and you need MY advice on how to fix it? Well, you're lucky I'm a nice guy...

1. Clean all the wet epoxy off the pieces that you can. Use a paper towel as this will wreck a cloth.
2. Wait for the rest of the epoxy to dry.
3. Sand away all of the epoxy, until you're right down to the plastic again. Make sure there is no trace
of old epoxy left, as this will wreck the seal between the piece and it's cap when you redo the glue.
4. Re-mix your epoxy at a perfect 1:1 ratio.
5. Re-glue your pieces to a fresh area of your plastic board.
6. Don't be a dumbass this time, give it a long long time to dry.

7. Congratulations, you've made an honest mistake. Don't be too hard on yourself. REMEMBER what you did wrong and WHY, and you will have just learned a very important lesson. If something is going to go wrong, it will. Always make sure all of your bases are covered.

The next part of the video will show the finishing touches for the barrel, and introduce the diamond. Since the diamond is made with a lot of the same techniques, it's part of the tutorial will be much more brief.

Special thanks to my friend, TheWestonian, for his help with this part of the video.

  • so could you use regular glue from a bottle? Plz answer.

  • No, no! Absolutely not! White glue is wood glue, it only works if it can soak into what you're gluing. This won't work for plastic.

  • i think you should a member or friend or partner or whatever where you can make videos that are longer that 10 min. i feel bad for you cuz you did this amazing video now you have to divide it up into 10 min segments....

  • Maybe later I'll upload the whole thing as one chunk.

  • using milliput is way easier and easier to sand

  • how did u cut the caps out? like u divided it into a grid and what did you use to cut that?

  • could we use and old cd case ?

  • .....really? you took the SMOOTH part, sanded it so it would stick to your modded pieces, but then the other side had texture and you cant place your stickers because of the texture when you could have just glued the modded pieces to the textured side to begin with...

  • DUDE YOU WATCH BLEACH AWESOME

  • you watch bleach lol :L
