It's a shame that's all there is of the WABG news; I'd really like to see more of that.

@dgendvil - ABC's nightly newscasts had been in color since 1967 (although special events such as space shots were in color since the year before); alas, they were the last to do so. However, the network continued to do B&W kinescopes of their newscasts as late as 1976.

@dgendvil Network newscasts were broadcast live in color by then; however certain reports here and there were still b&w.
When it comes to archiving newscasts from that era, some of the material ended up on b&w film or b&w videotape. Tape formats were still primitive, and pricey, more so color tape (hence why the private Vanderbilt archive of network newscasts were b&w up to a point). Once portable tape formats became available (namely 3/4 inch), and cheaper, more color material got archived.

@wmbrown6 I thought the ABC Newscasts in 1972 appeared in B&W, but with little color.

The ABC News clip with Bill Beutel was from May 28, 1972.

When that KPNX promo appeared on TV-Ark, they dated it 1988 (which is completely incorrect). 1994 sounds correct.
Also, that WTHR open is probably the last one in that graphics series. The talent open part is much more like 1994 because it resembles some used by TVbD in Walls and Balls.
WJTV looks like someone put their last Raycom package and WIAT in a blender.
