This video will demonstrate the configuration and testing of the Fault Tolerance feature in VMware's vSphere. This new feature allows you to have a hot virtual machine in standby ready to take over if the primary fails. Unlike other clustering type solutions there is no reboot of the host or restart of the application. The secondary is kept in lockstep with the primary and is in the exact state of the primary when failover occurs.

  • thanks,

  • thanks mate! thats really help on my understanding over FT

  • @larry217 i was wondering the samething lol

  • Now, I gotta wonder if that totally replaces the whole "MS cluster+TS+TS session directory+roaming profile share" stack. Has anyone used TS under ESX 4? How does that perform if so? I'm considering about 20 concurrent users, each using up to 200MB RAM. This was a vsphere 4 demo, right? Or was it 5?

  • @larry217

Well, it's pretty obvious where the tolerance bit comes from (when they start getting their first teeth), the fault thing still escapes me. Maybe thinking whose fault it was that condoms weren't used at the appropriate moment?

  • Thanks a lot for sharing this! Great!

  • Still Breast Feeding is appearing top on related videos. I came here to look at VmWare VMotion info. Very Strange !!
