  • That's a nice pan and cast iron skillets are really the best and safest for long-term non-stick cooking. One big thing to know is they will be the highest maintenance cookware in your kitchen. They require oiling after each use. As much as you may try to resist washing them with soap, sometimes you have to and then it requires re-seasoning. They can rust if not cared for over time. Stainless should be used daily. Cast iron should be used when "needed".

  • @macuser5555 Yeah cast iron is a lot of work but I have some what perfected my use with them.I use them then eat and after I eat they are a bit cooler and then I scrape them rinse with hot water and wipe with a tery towel then put back on low heat to dry fast then wipe a little bit olive oil on with another terry towel then put back in the cabinet. It sounds like a lot of work but I have it down. Im gonna get some stain pots but I will always use castiron daily. Thanks 4watching

  • If I was to recommend any cast iron cookware it would be Lodge 10 1/4 skillet. It's that middle ground do everything pan. It's the one pan that seem to crop up everywhere. It maybe the only cast iron pan in the house, but it's still there and still being used.

  • @zeltarstormrun Thanks... That is a good deal for some cast iron. As I said I am on this cast iron kick right now and its just a matter of time and Ill have them all... I just ordered some other stuff from bass pr shops and it should be here next week. Its not cast iron cookware but its for ourdoor cooking. Stay turned to see and thanks for watching. Its like I always say. Lets all learn from each other. Joe Tactical

  • I can see you rocking an old fashioned kitchen...my grandmother had an old wood stove and that thing was awesome...but then again you have to install a chimney and chop wood every time you want to cook an egg...but still the best meals I've ever eaten came off of that stove

  • @charlesjones32787 Yea it is easy to just turn on the stove but the woodstove would be a lot more fun... Im really gonna try to get a wood stove very soon if I can come up with the money. Thanks for the comments and for watching.

  • That's a ribbed grill skillet. I have one of those too. At the very least you need a 12" skillet too. Over time if you really like cast iron you'll end up with all kinds of goodies to cook with.

  • @macuser5555 Use enough fat/oil and have a good seasoning on the pan and it's pretty simple. I typically clean mine with a paper towel. The key to everything cast iron is a good seasoning it prevents messy clean up and rust. Also, I think cast iron IS for everyday use, that's where you get the good seasoning! A good seasoning=VERY low maintenance.

  • Sweet man! I was just given one of these yesterday as a christmas gift, and used it tonight to cook some fantastic sirloin filets. I also grilled some asparagus on it! Maybe you already know about them, but there are some good videos on youtube of Alton Brown using cast iron pans, and cooking steak etc. They are great, search for them.

  • Cast Iron cookware & 1095 carbon steel knives. Cookware doesn't get much more basic and dependable as that!
