He played his entire 11-year career for the Chiefs after being drafted fourth overall in the 1989 NFL Draft. Thomas, part of the class of 2009 entering the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was a premier football player throughout the 1990s and is considered one of the best pass rushers of all-time.[1] In 1990 against the Seattle Seahawks, he set an NFL record with seven sacks in a single game. On February 8, 2000, Thomas died from a massive blood clot that developed in his paralyzed lower extremities and traveled to his lungs. His paralysis was the result of severe injuries sustained in a car accident weeks earlier.

  • @awesome666ize first off its not as easy as it looks for the average person, and he was doing it as high reps lower weight.

  • was he curling 25's

  • Its kind of ironic how he drives away in his Mercedes at the end of the video.

  • my favorite player of all time...i hope that one day we can get a speed rusher like him....i love Tamba Hali but they are completely different...speed kills

  • I miss Derrick Thomas, I miss Marty and I miss 90's Chief's Football. Hopefully after the Packer's defeat we can start going down that awsome road again.

  • @TrentBittet5 well he shouldve had a seatbelt on!!

  • DT DT DT DT.....Why do good people always die when hey shouldn't?

  • DT rocked it LT was good but if they had an open lane DT would get there first R.I.P :(

  • Vermeil's team could've used Derrick as a leader and playmaker, but most of all Kansas City could've used such a great person. RIP.

  • We need a new DT, although I know he could never be replaced. We miss you DT. 58 the chiefs sacred number. Gone but never forgotten. :(
