Hi I'm making a virtical antenna mainly for 10m I made a coil with 1.5 inch plastic pipe with 26 turns and having a problem as to where on the coil should I place the tap for different bands, any information would be appreciated, my call is MW0MWL.

Hey, do you have a schematic for your antenna??? I'd like to try building one myself.

its a great radio but starting out you should get a 100w radio after you are good in wanna try 5 watts just put the radio on low power in if you don't like it go back to 100 watts its better to not be bound by 5 watts because a 100 watts can become 5 watts in go back to 100watts

Hi, Barry! An excellent and informative video on QRP. Can you tell me that maker of the aftermarket portable power supply strapped to the side of the IC-703 in this video.
I am looking for a good portable power supply to take hiking.

Ben,
I think it is a great QRP radio. If you like operating at the 5 watts level, this rig will work great. The price is right. Don't forget, the antenna is the most important part of the station.

Hello Barry! Thanks for the video! Do you get quite good results QRP? I would like to get into it a little more. I took my Icom 756 and Moon raker out into a field with 10w but with no luck at all! I have a 706 which I would like to get working >10w on a lead acid or similar. Does the lack or radials or a ground effect the performance at low power?

Carl,
The more radials you put down the better the ERP. I find that with the two radials on this little whip, if I can hear a signal I stand a good chance of working them. If I see an S3 or better reading on the S meter, I have a great chance of working that station.

The battery is hanging on the righ hand side of the rig. That's what that green thing is on the right hand side.
It's a 10.8 volt at 4.2 amp sub C cell battery pack.
