The first in a four part series of videos filmed on the Manx Electric Railway, during the Manx Transport Festival in July 2011.
Part One - Wednesday 27th July 2011
The gloriously sunny evening when the festival officially began, found myself at Douglas Derby Castle ready to get stuck in and record what action was happening. 'Winter Saloon' Car 19 and trailer 47 set off on one of the last trips of the day to Ramsey via Laxey.
Not long afterwards, fellow 'Winter Saloon' Car 22 turned up and ran round it's trailer. Then, recently rebuilt and repainted 'Tunnel' Car 7 (with trailer 48 in matching livery) arrived, to detrain it's passengers and then proceed backwards (trailer leading) to Derby Castle Depot. Car 22 followed shortly afterwards, on another of the last trips to Ramsey of the day.
I then took a ride with 'Winter Saloon' Car 21 and trailer 41, which was operating the Wednesday evening Douglas to Groudle shuttle (to connect with the Summer Wednesday evening services on the Groudle Glen Railway); taking in the magnificent evening coastal views along the way.
Car 21 is seen briefly at Groudle, and then back at Douglas Derby Castle - coupling up to trailer 41, before going on another run to Groudle.
